Anatomy Of Business Checks

 

Business checks are a must for any kind of business. Today there are a number of good quality laser business checks available in all sizes and colors. You can easily pick your choice from checks like quick books checks, quicken checks or intuit checks. Just make sure that you select one that suits your business needs and goes well with your personality. 


Parts Of Business Checks 


Following are the basic parts of business related checks: 


  • Personalization area: One can imprint up to 6 lines of information in this area. The information normally includes the name of the company, address, city, state, zip code, and other optional information.
  • Bank Information area: This area includes information about the bank on which the check is drawn. It also includes the bank’s name, address and phone number.
  • MICR Line: This area is at the bottom of the check. It comprises of the check number, bank routing number, and account number. The code is printed with special ink that can be read only by machines in the bank.
  • Check Number: This is a sequential number that is present on the upper right hand side of the check. It is encoded in the MICR line as well.
  • Routing Number: This is a 9 digit number that helps identify the bank. It always starts with a 0, 1, 2 or 3.
  • Account number: This is also a part of the MICR line and helps identify the account from which the cash would be drawn.
  • Other business checks areas: This includes pay to the order of line, fraction, over signature area, signature line, padlock icon, dollar box and written dollar amount.
